This weekend was one of the toughest so far for me, going into the weekend I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, due to not having rode around the track much and the track not really suiting me.
Nevertheless I went there ready to dig deep and give it my all.
Friday we had the 2 FP sessions and we struggled with pace/set up but we were not a million miles away, FP1 coming in P13 - 1:18.198 on the last lap of 14 then FP2 P10 with a 1:17.535 on 5, both in dry conditions.
Saturday we had qualifying and Race 1, I qualified in 5th due to the tricky rainy conditions, but then Alex was injured in an off at the end of the session, so I started P4, I was happy to be starting on the second row, with a 1:23.483 on lap 8 of 8. The race didn’t go to plan, the setup of the bike was way out and I struggled to find any grip, I was pleased with my riding due to the fact I overcame a lot of adversity in the race, finishing P8 - FL 1:17.289 on lap 2. On Sunday we had a warm up session early, came in P19 - 1:18.038, we made big bike changes and hoped it would improve the bike for the race. In the race I got held up by people having moments off the start and dropped back to 11th, I managed to get around the riders but I had lost a lot of time, I reeled in a 2 second gap to 6th and 7th, I got past both riders but in the end I got passed back as I felt I had used my tyre too much, so I came over the line P7 - 1:16.470 on lap 2, which was my fastest lap of the weekend, the rain stayed off until right at the very end of the race so we were lucky there. All weekend we massively struggled with setup, but in the last race we definitely went in the right direction and found a lot of pace. The main positives to take away is more solid points with a P8 and P7, remaining 3rd in the Championship and that we made progress in every session. Huge thanks to all my sponsors for your support this season, it’s times like this when I really appreciate you sticking by me, thank you.
Next up Cadwell Park....
