Race Report - Cadwell Park - No Limits Racing 11-13 Sep 2020
We arrived at Cadwell on Thursday ready for the practice day on Friday with the
Day looking good & I was feeling positive.
The weather was perfect on Friday & I had a good day of practice, achieving some good lap times in preparation for the weekend of racing ahead.
On Saturday we had the Endurance Race as a team & Ben joined us for this round making the JR Performance team complete.
The weather was a mixture of cloudy/bright & dry all day, we qualified in the morning 9th overall & 2nd in our 600 class for the 3hr endurance so we were going to start in a strong position.
I also had qualifying for the first sprint race in the morning & qual 2nd starting on the front row
Into the first sprint race, I led for 5 laps (1-5) battling closely with the championship leader James Alderson & came in P2 just behind him with a gap of 1.436 & a best lap of 1:33.116.
Straight off & into prep for the Endurance race, we got off to a good start, over the first 2 hours we were keeping a constant 2nd place in class but then pulled the win back on the 3rd hour in 3:00:38.336 with a best lap of 1:33.849 making that 3 out of 3 in the Endurance races with NLR this year.
That was it for Saturday, time for some rest & prep for the sprint races on Sunday.
Sunday was again dry & bright with some cloud cover, I started the 1st race of the day 2nd & led laps 1-3 & 7/8 taking the win from James in this one with a gap back to him of only 0.279 so again a really close battle for the win, my fastest lap being 1:32.317.
On to the second race, again starting from 2nd on the grid, another mega close battle with James, I passed & led from Lap 9 for 2 laps taking the win with another close gap of 0.201 back to him, I also got the fastest lap of this race with 1:32.496
So we moved on to the final race of the day & if I won this I would be leading the championship, started this one from pole & led all the way round finishing in P1 with a fastest lap time of 1:32.912 & a gap of 0.119 back to James, we were battling throughout this race & it was again so close, so I come away from this round leading the championship with everything to play for in the last round at Donington in October, I think again we are going to have some close battles to the end.
To round up, I felt good on the test day at Cadwell, it took some getting used to after Silverstone but I was getting to grips with it after day 1 of racing on Saturday, I leant a few things and proceeded to work on them, my Sunday was mega winning all 3 races & having good battles
So now we move on to Oulton park for BSB this weekend which I’m feeling positive for & looking forward to.
