Race Report - BSB Round 5 - Donington Park 2-4th October 2020
So we arrived on Thursday ready for uncertain conditions at Donington Park .. Friday didn't go to plan at all, it was dry but very cold conditions & unfortunately I had a fall in FP1 at Craners, one of the biggest crashes I have had to date, the bike was beaten up & my Dad and JR did a mega job of getting the bike back out for FP2
FP1 - 1:38.066 (+2.508) 17th 😞
FP2 was in wet conditions ... I was finding my feet again from the crash in the morning finishing P10 and also found some problems that were consequently fixed. FP2 - 1:50.770 (+2.086) 10th Saturday, the weather was pretty grim...... Storm Alex was out to play, so qualifying was cancelled & we didn't ride at all so our FP1 time was used for the grid positioning, this wasn't good news for me because I was of course 17th in FP1 after the crash Row 6 on grid so had a lot of work ahead of me in the race So Sunday we had some very difficult choices with the tyres as the weather was still unpredictable.. last minute we decided to run full wets for the race, I worked up to 2nd from 17th, but then my tyres were gone and had very minimal grip, so the other riders on drys caught up to me and I finished P8, which all in all was a good recovery from the start of the weekend.
