So we were over at our home track Oulton Park for Round 9 & it was an up and down kind of weekend.
We had the 2 FP sessions on Friday, in FP1, we were off the pace but was first session after the crash, so I let things come to me - P9 - FL1:37.637 on 10 of 15 laps.
FP2 was better, finishing P6 - FL 1:36.790 on 3 of 11 laps, making steps in the right direction.
Qualifying on Saturday was solid for me - FL 1:36.188 on 2 of 9 laps, putting me P5 on the grid which I was happy with knowing I’m not a qualifier.
Race 1 later in the afternoon, I struggled off the start and couldn’t make the passes all race, however I rode clever and waited for the later laps where I made 2 passes on the last laps and came home P4 - FL 1:36.001 on 5 of 12 laps, this was my fastest lap of the weekend.
Also on Saturday got to have around 5 laps on the new Pathway Honda, really enjoyed that and grateful for the opportunity.
Sunday started with a warm up session - P2 - FL 1:36.652 on 5 of 5 Laps.
Race 2 - started off good, getting myself straight into 4th sitting behind the top 3, I felt really comfy behind Richard Kerr, just sitting in with the same plan as yesterday.
Unfortunately, I made a mistake and lost 1 second to the front group, tried too hard to get myself back on the leading group & gave myself arm pump with 3 laps to go resulting in me dropping like a stone through the chasing group finishing P8 - FL 1:36.165 on 4 of 12 laps.
I come away from Oulton still 4th in the Championship.
Disappointed is an understatement, I’m sorry to the people I let down in that last race, thanks to everyone who came out to the track to support me and sent messages over the weekend, thank you also to my sponsors for sticking with me, it won’t happen at Donington.
