Donington Park Round 3 Race Report
At Donington Park, we had perfect weather all through, it was not entirely without incident but was another solid weekend
Free Practice - Friday
We started off Friday P7 in FP1 1:30.396 and P4 in FP2 with my fastest time of the weekend of 1:29.476.
I felt strong after that day, as I felt I had more to give and my ideal lap time showed that I did.
Qualifying - Saturday
Qualifying didn’t really go to plan, I fell entering Goddards (last corner) on my 2nd lap, luckily I had put 1 good lap in resulting in P6 -1:29.688, but as Alex was moved back, I was then starting 5th on the grid.
The bike took a big hit, as I think when it hit the grass, it dug in and flipped a few times.
Warm Up & Race - Sunday
We went out for warm up and the bike was still very twisted, so my team had a big job on before the race to fix the bike back up.
They found out that the forks were bent, so I had to run Ohlins forks which I have never used before.
I led the race for a while and was with the front group the whole race, my bars ended up twisted after lap 3 so that felt odd to ride when one bar is facing in the other direction and I also suffered with brake fade, I persevered & came in P4 -1:29.504.
Nevertheless I’m happy to bring solid points home again especially after the crash.
We have moved up into 3rd position in the Championship now on 68 points.
Next up is round 4 up at Knockhill on the 16th June.
The podium is within hands reach, so I will keep on working hard to get there.
Thank you to all my sponsors for the continued support, everyone who came to the track and those of you who popped in, also for all the messages on social media, Dave Neal of Offtrack Podcast for coming in to interview us & last but not least to Big Joe and my Dad for getting me back out on track for the race.
