BSB Stock 600 2020 Review

************BSB 2020 Review***************

So we wrapped up the 2020 BSB Pirelli Superstock 600 Championship this weekend at Brands Hatch.

My first year in Stock 600 was amazing, mixing highs and lows throughout.

Going into this, my target was to finish in the top 15 every race, trying to score points every round if I could.

The first round was at Donington, I had an off at Redgate in qualifying, but the team worked like demons & the bike was ready to race, finished the race in P9 coming away with my first 7 points of the season.... really chuffed, next up over to Snetterton for the 2nd round & came home P8, another good result & more points in the bag getting the shortened season off to a good start

At Silverstone in the 3rd round, I struggled massively throughout the weekend, I had never ridden there before except for the test, it was a really close race & I came home in P10 but taking a positive away, finishing inside the top 10

Moving on to my home round at Oulton Park, I had a really positive weekend, P3 in the free practice sessions, struggled a little in qual, could not get a good fast lap together and was P10, starting on row 4 - frustrating !!!

In Race 1 got up to 6th at one point, coming home in P8 in the closing laps was pushed back a little but was happy to have gained the 2 places

Had a long wait until Race 2 which was at the end of the day on Sunday, was battling on the back of the leading group, then there was a red flag incident & restart, a rider came off in front of me which shuffled me back a little but I battled back past a couple of riders & came home in P8 with more points to take away.

Then we came back to Donington, challenging is an understatement , the weather was uncertain all weekend, making tyre choices very difficult, I unfortunately joined the Craner Club in FP1, the biggest crash I have had, but Dad & JR worked really hard & got the bike fixed up for FP2 in wet conditions coming in P10

Storm Alex came out to play on Sat & qual was cancelled which was not good as I was then stuck with P17 starting on row 6, lots of work to do ahead of me !!

I worked myself up to P2 in the race but we were on full wets so due to tyre wear I limped home to yet another P8 !

After a really tough weekend though, I was happy to come home with more points & standing 9th in the Championship with only 1 round left to go.

So then we found ourselves at the final round at Brands Hatch, another track I had never been to before

My weekend started off sketchy, coming P14 and P16 in both free practice sessions but then in qualifying I managed to turn my weekend around and get my best qualifying position to date in P6 & also finished the race P6 which was my best result of the season, with a late race charge in the final race on Sunday I came home P8 but was with the leading group the whole way round so mega happy with how the weekend turned out finishing 7th in the Championship in my first ever BSB Stock 600 year just before my 17th birthday, very very happy.

All in all, I exceeded my expectations by far for the year and I learned so much throughout

I would just like to thank all my sponsors for the support in the season it could not be done without you !

And a massive thank you to JR Performance for the hard work every weekend, I am so happy I am riding for such an awesome team and not forgetting my amazing family for everything they have done every year to get me out on track, support me whilst there, giving up their weekends to do so and giving me the best possible chance to make my dream a reality 👍🏼👍🏼
