Brands Hatch Race Report

***Brands Hatch Race Report ****

So we were down at Brands this weekend for Round 6 and it turned out to be a solid weekend for me.

Started off with 2 FP sessions on Friday feeling good and confident, FP1, I did my fastest lap of the weekend 1:27.407, didn’t really get going in the afternoon on Friday with a slightly slower lap of 1:27.585, but we had consistent pace.

Sat we had qualifying and race 1, I qualified P8 .. FL 1:27.538, which I wasn’t happy with because I didn’t string my lap together and knew I could do better.

Race 1, later in the afternoon, the heavens opened before it began, so with no wet practice we had to go straight into it, I had a really good start and in the opening laps I managed to get into the lead, then led for 5 laps of the race, I felt comfortable when I was leading, Alastair then passed me and I settled in behind him, I closed the gap a little but then had a moment on the exit of Surtees, which made me lose a little time again, I finished P2 .. FL 1:37.124, which I’m buzzing with, to finally get the podium I have been striving for.

Got some good rest and was all set for Sunday, I did not do the warm up as it was damp, so straight into the race it was, which wasn’t so good, I had a good start and led for a little, but lacked pace, so a few riders then came through, I struggled not to fight the bike in the race, so I started to fade as all the wrestling with the bike started to take it’s toll. I came home P5 1:27.951, which is not a bad result at all, but definitely wanted more !!

Came away from the weekend with 38 points thus remaining 3rd in the Championship.

Hard work pays off, I got a little taster of that this weekend, but now we have some work to do before Thruxton to up my pace in the dry, which I feel I can do to close the gap to the front runners.

Thank you to the team for a solid effort throughout the weekend and to all my personal sponsors for the continued support, I’m very happy I managed to put it in the box for you. Also thank you to everyone for the phenomenal amount of messages over social media & to Ruben Photography - Alex Humphries Media -Colin Port - Impact Images for the fab photos.
